It is mid-September, and the days continue to be filled with sun-kissed goodness. Again I have the honour and privilege to collaborate with the eminent Peruvian-Canadian film director Carlos Ferrand on my multidisciplinary project Sonate des Saisons, which draws inspiration from Rachel Laurin’s Sonate pour piano en mi mineur, Op. 2. For the past 40 years, Carlos has worked as a screenwriter and director and has collaborated as director of photography on over 50 films, both fiction and documentary, including the documentary feature Jongué, A Nomad’s Journey, the documentary essay 13, A Ludodrama about Walter Benjamin, and most recently the music video Sonate Tableaux, which garnered 8 international film awards. On this artistic and audacious journey, he remarked that “once again we have a beautiful Minna Re Shin challenge ahead of us: how to translate the captivating Sonate des Saisons romance into a cinematographic narrative. Sultry, tender, cold, and warm will be the colour of the emotions which will be conjured along with Shawn Hounsell’s dance choreography and Minna’s piano performance.”
As my team and I continue to unleash our boundless creativity, we still have a long way to go to reach our crowdfunding amount. We are counting on you to help us bring this groundbreaking video project to fruition. Every dollar counts, and no contribution is too small; little gestures go a long way, and every simple act of support will be enormously appreciated.
