I am honoured and thrilled to work with one of Canada’s leading choreographers, Shawn Hounsell, on the Sonate des Saisons project. He has created and staged pieces for numerous Canadian companies, including the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, Les Grands Ballet Canadiens de Montréal, and Ballet British Columbia. Many of his works have been performed by dance companies and in galas across the globe, including the Ballet of the National Theatre of Prague and the Prix de Lausanne Gala (Tokyo, Japan).

On this artistic and adventurous journey, he remarked, “It is truly a pleasure to be collaborating with Minna Re Shin and the entire creative team on this ambitious and inspiring project. Finding a balance and synergy between the compelling music of Rachel Laurin and the physical world, which the trio of dancers will inhabit, is where the vast landscape of possibilities begins. The shapes and impulses of the dancers will draw in space a complex portrait of the natural world and the inherent intuitiveness of the human form; it is through contrast and illumination that the music and dance will coexist. In crossing the artistic pathways of the various elements to be employed in creating the video, we are hoping to give rise to a multi-dimensional experience which will engage and transport the viewer.”
